WalkThru, Case Study

WalkThru is a navigation app designed to help people move seamlessly from point A to point B without stepping outdoors. Inspired by systems like the Toronto PATH, the app is tailored for environments such as college campuses, transit hubs, and large building networks. It provides clear, accessible indoor routes that prioritize convenience, comfort, and safety—whether users are avoiding bad weather, navigating unfamiliar spaces, or simply looking for the quickest indoor path.

challenge.

Students and commuters often struggle to navigate large campuses or transit systems, especially during bad weather or when moving between unfamiliar buildings. Existing maps primarily cover outdoor routes, leaving a gap for clear, reliable indoor navigation. The challenge was to design an intuitive app that helps users get from point A to point B entirely indoors, reducing confusion, saving time, and making travel more comfortable.

result.

The final prototype introduced a clean and intuitive interface that simplified indoor navigation for campuses and transit hubs. Users could search destinations, view step-by-step indoor routes, and switch seamlessly between buildings without stepping outdoors. Usability testing with peers showed the design reduced confusion, improved wayfinding efficiency, and highlighted the value of indoor-first navigation.
